WELCOMEThe new edition to Rubery Juniors FC this season is the Under 12’s Colts, a team who’s roots originate Rubery, but after seeking out pastures green realized that the future was in fact yellow & blue. It is with great delight I welcome players old and new to Rubery and hope that the coming seasons will bring success and enjoyment. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents for having faith in me and I appreciate the support they have already shown. Special thank you to Paul & Rob for their assistance and never questioning my sometimes unusual coaching techniques (trust me I know what I am doing). KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK PLAYERS, PARENTS AND THE SUPPORTERS |

Rubery Juniors 6 Crusaders 2
After the fright of Aston we took a short journey to Bournville to play
Crusaders in a welcome return to league football. The game started well for
Rubery and after 7 mins a perfect throughball from Tom Sears put Jack Marshall
away , who finished with a clever lob over the goal keeper to score his first
Rubery goal. On 15 mins the lead was extended to 2 goals with a carbon copy of
the first , Jack getting his second. Crusaders hit back with two quick goals to
even the score , but with 7 mins of the half left Tyler and Steve exchanged
passes and Steve scored his 4th of the season with a right-foot curler. H/T 3-2
The second half saw Crusaders start brightly and Rubery were forced to defend
with few chances of getting out of our half ,but after 15 mins Rubery started to
play again with goals from Steve, Josh Wright & a superb 18 yard volley on the
run by Ken Johns ,unfortunately I missed of the second half because I was with
the U9’s. M.O.M. Steve Allen , a true team effort but special mention to Tom
Sears for two superb passes to set up Jack .
Rubery Juniors 0 Phoenix United 5
In the early nineties a freak radioactive accident in Aston was kept secret from
the general public until now. When I first spoke to the Phoenix manager he told
me he had a couple of big lads in his team, what he failed to tell me is that
they were massive ,with at least two being taller than me, and built like
Olympic sprinters, this I put down to the radioactive leak some twelve years ago
. So with great trepidation the Rubery midgets took the field ,my team talk of
David and Goliath seemed to fall on deaf ears as phoenix quickly went into the
lead ,and by half time we were 0-5 down.
The second half started much brighter with Rubery being more positive ,and
better finishing could have reduced the deficit .F/T 0-5 M.O.M .Ben Knight
17/09/2006 SOLIHULL JUNIORS 0 - RUBERY JUNIORS B 3
Rubery’s travels continued with a visit to Solihull Juniors. This was a chance for us to put the cup defeat behind us and to give Jack Marshall his Rubery debut. The game started with Rubery pushing forward causing problems for the Solihull defence, but failing to put away any of our chances. Tough tackling midfielder Sam Walker was carried off after 20 minutes with as bad injury, this allowed Ben Knight onto the pitch. Rubery pressure eventually told with a Stephen Allen goal. H/T 1-0
The second half saw Rubery make more changes but continued to pile on the pressure, with Stephen Allen getting his 2nd goal 7 minutes into the second half. With the defence taking control of the Rubery half it was down to the midfield/attackers to score more goals with several players coming close, and a well worked corner resulted in Ken Johns getting the 3rd goal..
MOM Satephen Allen. Special mention to Jack Marshall great 1st game, also the boys and myself wishing Sam Walker a speedy recovery .
10/09/2006 LEAFIELD ATHLETIC 5 - RUBERY JUNIORS B 2
Rubery’s second game of the season saw us travel to Leafield Athletic in the cup. It is always difficult to play teams that are 2/3 divisions above you today was no different. Rubery battled hard, but Leafield kept attacking and the first goal was in the back of the net. Leafield had got the taste for goals and by half time the score was 3-0.
The second half saw Rubery playing in a far more positive way, and after ten minutes a clever through ball saw Matthew Ollis outpace the defence and slot the ball in the back of the net. The game was now far more evenly fought with both teams going close. With five minutes left to play a poor clearance was pounced on and Leafield went 4-1 up. This was closely followed by goal number 5. Rubery continued playing and succeeded in winning a corner which was eventually poked into the leafield net with the last kick of the game by Josh Wright.
MOM Matthew Bond. Special mention to Ben Simkiss for a job well done.
03/09/2006 REAL CENTRO 1 RUBERY JUNIORS B 2
After several friendlies the colts got the season on the way in sunny Bidford-on-Avon. The game kicked off with Rubery forcing Real Centro into their own half, with Tom Sears & Tyler Pease attacking down both wings. Eventually Rubery broke the deadlock with a well taken Ryan Anderson goal. The midfield was beginning to take control of the game but unfortunately Rubery’s finishing did not match the excellent build up play. In the 25th minute a Stephen Allen goal gave Rubery a 2-0 lead at half time.
Real Centro started the second half in a more attacking formation and this quickly showed with them scoring 5 minutes into the half. The game was now end to end with Tom Turner & Ben Knight both going close, and at the other end the Rubery defence holding firm against some sustain pressure.
MOM Tyler Pease. Special mention to Ryan Anderson & Tom Turner for work rate in the midfield.
